In Hong Kong sparkly Christmas lights have been turned on, as residents and visitors set aside worries caused by the global financial crisis.
A large shopping mall spent over one and a half million US dollars on Christmas decorations this year. Star entertainers such as actor and singer Andy Lau, filmmaker Andrew Lau and pop singer Denise Ho, were present to usher in the festive season and spread Christmas cheer.
The Ocean Terminal Main Entrance of Harbour City has been turned into a train station illuminated with more than 10-thousand light bulbs. The shopping mall hopes the decorations will create a cheerful atmosphere to attract shoppers and encourage them to buy Christmas presents.
